My name is Tom Wicks, and I am a Driving Instructor covering Plymouth and areas of South Devon such as Ivybridge, Buckfastleigh, Ashburton and Totnes.
Your choice of Driving Instructor is important as the skills you will learn on your course will stay with you beyond the driving test, and give you the ability and attitude for many years safe motoring.
Every potential driving instructor will be required to take 3 examinations. Part 1 is an advanced theory test, Part 2 is an advanced driving test, and Part 3 is a test of teaching ability. It is possible for a potential instructor to take parts 1 and 2 of the test, and then apply for a Trainee Licence (also known as a Pink Licence). They are then able to teach pupils, often charging full price, even though they haven’t taken or passed the Part 3 exam. Many driving schools use instructors with Trainee Licences.
I have passed all 3 examinations, and I am registered as an Approved Driving Instructor (ADI).
